World-class expertise

ReMI relies on a host of researchers, renowned professors, Ultra Electronics engineering experts, students and a dedicated team that together develop expertise in the field of distributed artificial intelligence. This is the first ÉTS institute.

Our leaders

Director's Word,

Data Science

“The integration of distributed artificial intelligence into our critical communications systems is a key step for Ultra TCS in both technology leadership and business development.

The multi-agent systems developed at ReMI are tested under the most difficult conditions of the market. The resilience of algorithms: convergence, real-time adaptability and robustness against adversarial attacks are at the heart of our research. To achieve these objectives, we favor hybrid symbolic / connectionist approaches combined with docitive schemes where each agent shares part of his learning in an optimized radius according to, for example, the entropy of its strategy.

The creation of the ReMI also helps to promote Montreal as one of the centers of excellence in artificial intelligence.”

Dr. Gwenael Poitau

Chief Technology Officer and Head of Engineering, Ultra Electronics TCS

Dr. Poitau has been developing critical communications systems for 10 years after working on the architecture of 4G integrated circuits. He has published a large number of patents and specialized articles in wireless technology and since 2016 has managed the engineering team of Ultra TCS. He now specializes in multi-agent machine learning.

Professor Kadoum’s research activities wireless communications, networks resource management, network security, and tactical communications. He has published over 250 journal and conference papers, has two pending patents, and received many prestigious academic honors. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security

Director's Word,

Research

“In recent years, the city of Montreal has become one of the world capitals in artificial intelligence thanks to its research centers and universities. The AI ecosystem is booming. The creation of the ÉTS and Ultra TCS Resilient Machine Learning Institute (ReMI), specializing in machine learning, will allow us to leverage the major initiatives in this field, train highly qualified personnel and meet the evolving needs of the industry.

ReMI arrives at a major inflection point in engineering as the resilience of networks is increasingly important in many fields, including intelligent manufacturing, public security, the military and intelligent networking. “
